Wibrain has hooked up with Dynamism to launch the B1 UMPC. The tiny device has a touchscreen of just 4.8″ in size but 1024 x 600 resolution, acheived through very high pixel density. It’s a Windows XP-packing, lightweight HSDPA device that’s compact, portable and relatively powerful for its size. This can go face to face with the Ultimate OQO’s UMPC that we mentioned earlier.

Wibrain is claiming five hours of official battery time, but being remarkably honest in reducing that to three hours “real world use” in the press release. Other spec includes a 60GB hard drive and 1.2 GHz processor, integrated WiFi, Bluetooth and a pop-up camera / mic for easy VoIP-based communication. The split keyboard, touchpad, cursor keys and touchscreen claim to make navigation a doddle too. Dynamism’s addition is unlimited toll-free support and the standard year’s warranty. Prices start at $699.

Shortly after Nintendo’s regain the “King of the Game Console” title. Wii Fit was announced at Nintendo’s E3 press conference, and Shigeru Miyamoto surprisingly took the stage to show off the project. Nintendo is surely printing money with Wii Fit. It’s going to sell shed loads, and it’s a very clever move by the company that’s managed to expand the games market by appealing to the lucrative mainstream crowd with similarly quirky titles on Wii and DS.

You can play a yoga game that had you stand balanced in a range of different positions, following the motions of an on-screen character, and it challenges you to hold these positions for a set amount of time while it records your balance data, from which it will give you a score.

This will probably be a high demand product for the super sized North American.

So we can’t really deliver into a lot of specifics, but today Microsoft showed off the next version of Windows Mobile at their annual Mobius conference. Nope, it’s not Windows Mobile 7 / Photon, but what we saw “is an update, not an upgrade”, was running on current hardware, and is due to manufacturers Q108. Our first impressions: very slick, and has a lot of features that just about any WM6 user will agree is way overdue. In other words, we’re expecting users will be stoked — no doubt about it. Expect specific details on features and the like in the near future, we wouldn’t be surprised to hear more about it CES.

Now this is the perfect product for the secure geek who lives in a warmer climate. With this gadget you can be the coolest person in the office, even if your the biggest dork there, literally. Perhaps you can use it on public transit since it can be powered by plugging into your laptop…

For $159, you can say bye to sweat and obtain this fantastic invention by Kuchofuku. There is only one size - XL. Did not mention whether it is washable or not.

I’ve seen lots of weird USB stuff here and this USB Ferris Wheel Phone Stand is right at the top of the weird list. Why exactly you would want a ferris wheel rotating around on your desk I don’t know. I guess if you are a hard core carnival freak this may be the coolest thing ever.

I’m not sure exactly how the device works, but the ferris wheel spins when you get an incoming phone call. I will assume since the device connects to your PC, and doesn’t mention connecting to your cell phone that we are talking about VoIP calls. Flashing LED lights in red and green also activate when the ferris wheel spins. The wheel is 11cm diameter and includes ten figures to ride the wheel. The price is $27 for this weird USB gadget [USBGeek] that can be powered by USB or a pair of AA batteries.

External hard drive enclosures come in all sorts of varieties, but only if you need it to carry around often, you may want to consider this Japanese Co. Logitec (no, not Logitech) SATA-to-USB converter that employs a cartridge slot design. An semi-transparent case folds up to cover the drive, and there’s adequate back support so the drive won’t be easily knocked over. Installation is relatively simple as you don’t even need to power down the unit before inserting the SATA drive.

This product is similar to the USB 2.0 to IDE/SATA adapter kit ($25) which I find it’s worth every penny! This device is excellent, it connects to 3.5 inch IDE and SATA, 2.5 inch SATA and even to a old 5.25 inch. If you have experienced other similar product like this, comment on it!

USB-Powered Butt Cooler

As if the [cref 89] wasn’t enough, sweaty Japanese peripheral makers felt the need to cool off their sweaty backsides as well. The USB butt cooler goes onto your chair, over the cushion, and flows “cool” air onto your as-s via the onboard fan. There’s an on/off switch on the cable, which plus into your USB port.
Q: Is this powerful enough to feel anything? LOL

Ear Wax Camera/Cleaner

Though it’s not really a common topic of dinner conversation in the States — “Who’s been cleaning your ears at Yale, Son?” — the Japanese have a certain fondness for the act of ear cleaning. If Hello Kitty mimikakis (ear cleaners) aren’t enough for your waxy canals, King’s Idea’s ear scopes may just be the ticket. At one end of the device is a camera and a light, the other a viewer for you to peep your buildup. It’s made of “anti-bacterial ABS resin, glass and stainless steel”. If only this didn’t cost $90.

According to TechRepublic, OQO is an Ultra-Mobile PC (UMPC), but when you pick it up it simply feels like a device that combines the best mobility and connectivity features of a high-end smartphone with the computing power of an ultraportable notebook.OQO is a powerful device, yet the size is petite. According to Guinness World Records, the “OQO” is the smallest full-powered, full-featured personal computer. The U.S. Army uses them at security checkpoints in the Middle East. Others are using them as mini PCs for workers who don’t sit at a desk. For these workers, the OQO is helping to create a new category of PCs - one with a very high geek factor.

Although this post is not directly related to gadgets, I believe cars are one of the best gizmos ever invented, hence we should definitely talk about them right? Seriously, what’s the price tag you think could make it to the “Top 10 Most Expensive cars”? 1 million or 2 million? Even the $1.4 million Bugatti Veyron is too ‘cheap’ to be on the Top 10 list!!! We’ve been hearing vague rumblings about potentially flawed MacBook hard drives for a day or two now, but a report from UK data-recovery firm Retrodata finally backs up all the noise with some hard data — according to the company, revision 7.0.1 Seagate drives manufactured in China have defective read / write heads that can become detached and slide across the surface of the platters, making recovery impossible. Apple says it’s only received “a few reports” of the problem, but Retrodata says the issue is severe enough to warrant a recall. MacBook users will want to fire up Apple System Profiler ASAP and check under the Serial-ATA listing to see what kind of drive they have — and probably start backing things up, just to be safe.
