Over 10 million Sharp One Seg Phones Sold

Over 10 million Sharp One Seg Phones Sold

Back in February, I talked about 20 Million TV Phones being sold in Japan. This figure is actually getting much higher. Just Sharp One Seg Phones alone sold more than 10 million units in Japan! Sharp has the upper hand when it comes to snagging the hearts (and wallets) of the Japanese. Would you like to see One-Seg technology being made available in your country?

HTC ships first batch of Touch Diamond to Hong Kong CSL

HTC ships first batch of Touch Diamond to Hong Kong CSL

I’m a fan of HTC, in fact, I own a HTC Touch. It works perfectly with most of the applications including my favourite “Windows Voice Command 1.6“. (Download it free here)

DigiTimes has it that HTC has already shipped its first shipment of over 10,000 Touch Diamond mobiles to Hong Kong CSL, which has consequently sent our saliva glands into overdrive. The report continues on to say that deliveries to European / Asia-Pacific operators should get going in June, though no further details were mentioned. Meanwhile, North Americans are left to weep softly to keep from embarrassment.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 - iPhone Killer ?

Claimed as yet another iPhone killer by Tech evangelists and bloggers, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 has on incredibly high-resolution(800*480), 3-inch VGA touch screen display. With a unique arc-slider design, the X1 feature a new desktop GUI called ‘Experia panels’, a nine-panel interface that’s eye candy on the high-resolution display. These panels are finger-friendly marvels that permit access to applications running on the phone via the home screen. Navigation is possible either by touch, arc-sliding QWERTY Keypad, 4-way joypad and an “optical joystick”.

The X1 also has loads of other features like quadband GSM as well was UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA network support, WiFi, aGPS, microSD(400 MB on phone memory default) and of course, Window Mobile 6.

BlackBerry 9000 Review

BlackBerry 9000 Review

CrackBerry surprisingly managed to snag a BlackBerry 9000, and here they are with a review. I have digested the entire review and churned out a bulleted list of all the important points to consider if you’re thinking of getting the BlackBerry 9000. I think it surpassed the Blackberry 8800 series where it’s commonly use in companies.

Here’s the hardware specs:

  • Decent battery life during testing
  • Extremely fast compared to the Curve, does not suffer lag!
  • 480×320 LCD display is crisp, bright and sharp
  • Subtle changes to keyboard for better typing
  • Externally accessible microSD memory card slot
  • GPS navigation System
  • Extremely bright notification LED and trackball
  • Convenience key location is questionable
  • Easy accessibility to SIM card

How to watch YouTube on Windows Mobile

How to watch YouTube on Windows Mobile

A member from the WMExperts Forum has done the impossible incredible: Written instructions for getting the full version of YouTube working on Windows Mobile Device without needing a PhD in Computer Engineering. That’s not m.youtube.com, (which only features whatever videos YouTube has bothered to encode for that site), but the full YouTube. It’s not quite plug ‘n play, but it’s darn close. If you follow zbop’s instructions to a Tee you should be able to manage it.

  • If you already have a version of TCPMP installed, uninstall it now.
  • Install tcpmp.pocketpc.0.72RC1.cab: download link here
  • Install FlashVideoBundle.CAB attached [in the linked forum post below] (this MUST be installed in the same location as TCPMP)
  • Soft-reset

You’ll also want to read through the whole thread (linked below) for some tips and tricks for configuring TCPMP to get everything running smoothly and quickly. Here’s the full instruction.

Ferrari-Shaped Cell Phone

Ferrari-Shaped Cell Phone

This seemingly toy Ferrari (is it the F430?) is in fact a cellphone. The dialing pad is located underneath the car where the axle should be. The idea is interesting, but I agree that I do not like the idea of talking where the back axle is. It’s purely psychological, but why do you think that the original iPod was white and shiny like a bathroom? Price: 96 British pounds.

  • 2.2” display (260k colors)
  • Music player
  • Video player
  • 1.3 Megapixel camera
  • USB connector

3G iPhone is coming!

3G iPhone is coming!

3G phones are the future, but apparently iPhone, HTC Touch and other popular cellphones are NOT 3G phones. Apple’s iPhone will be launching its 3G version in months! AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega mentioned earlier in the event that he expected all of their smart integrated devices to be 3G in the next couple months - which includes iPhone.

TV Phones Hit 20 Million in Japan

Japan is the most trendy country in the world when it comes to cellphones. If you’ve ever been to Tokyo, you’ll know that cellphone TVs are hot in Japan. It comes as no surprise that the Japanese just recently reached the 20 million milestone. The last million handset was shipped during the month of December 2007.

Japan’s 1-SEG network was launched April 1 2006 and delivers QVGA-quality broadcasts. Same technology as we showcased the Streaming Internet Radio in PSP.
