Audi R8 boasts LEDs light aplenty (Iron Man’s car)

Audi R8 boasts LEDs light aplenty (Iron Man’s car)

This beauty appears in the movie of Iron Man which can go head to head with the Porsche and TT. Audi has already managed to work some LEDs into a few of its cars (concepts and in production), but the automaker has gone all out with its latest Audi R8, which employs LEDs for seemingly every lighting function. That includes the 24-LED running lamps the R8 had before, along with some brand LED high and low beam headlights, and LED turn signals, which add up to some 54 LEDs in all. Driving this car will be shined at night! Given the prices that single LED bulbs demand these days, it should come as no surprise that this is quite the pricey option, with it adding a full €3,590 (or about $5,560) to the R8’s already lofty sticker price. It’s a must upgrade if you got the cash ;)

Lamborghini Reventón (TFT display)

The Lamborghini Reventón may not be a reinvention, but there’s no doubt that it is very unique with the sharp edges and huge air intakes. There are only 20 made worldwide. (Pic: Reventón vs Panavia Tornado jet-fighter - of course, Lambo lost) Today we are not going to talk about the specs of this car, I’m sure you can find the detail specs else where. Let’s focus on the TFT display looks like an airplane.

Solar taxi trying to circle the globe

Green Technology is what people concerns and we are a supporter for the environment-friendly products. Louis Palmer from Switzerland will be attempting to go around the globe in his solar-powered car. His long journey began last year when he set out from Lucerne, Switzerland last July, and over a year he has traversed Europe, the Middle East as well as India. This three-wheeled, two seater comes with a “Taxi” sign that offers rides to whoever is interested in his journey to create history. Louis will be in Bali, Indonesia this week. The Solar Taxi pulls a trailer along with additional solar panels, resulting in a total cell area of 65 square feet. To date, Louis has covered nearly 9,000 miles and ought to make his way to the US sometime next year before he reaches home sweet home. Way to go Louis! :)

Top 10 Most Expensive Cars of 2007

Although this post is not directly related to gadgets, I believe cars are one of the best gizmos ever invented, hence we should definitely talk about them right? Seriously, what’s the price tag you think could make it to the “Top 10 Most Expensive cars”? 1 million or 2 million? Even the $1.4 million Bugatti Veyron is too ‘cheap’ to be on the Top 10 list!!! If you are a millionaire (most likely a billionaire), would you buy one of these Vintage cars?

1962 Ferrari 330 TRI/LM

Sold for: $9.3 million
By: RM Auctions
When: May 20, 2007
Where: Maranello, Italy
This well-traveled V12 race car was the 1962 Le Mans winner, driven by the legendary Phil Hill and the late Olivier Gendebien. It raced on other circuits like Bridgehampton and Sebring, and crashed at Le Mans in 1963. Believe it or not, it was a daily driver in New York City from 1965 to 1974, according to RM Auctions. Sports Car Market called it “one of most important Ferraris ever to cross the auction block.” Ironically, it was offered for $8 million in 2005 and didn’t sell.

Toyota’s Plug-in Prius

PriusToyota Motor Corp on Friday detailed plans to study U.S. consumer demand for a version of its hot-selling Prius hybrid that could be recharged at a standard outlet and run on electric power only.

A senior Toyota executive declined to say when a plug-in Prius would be launched or whether it could beat rival General Motors Corp to market with a technology seen as capable of slashing fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Bob Carter, who heads the Toyota brand in the United States, said it was more important for Toyota to understand consumer expectations and hone the battery-centered technology behind plug-in cars than to race to bring them to showrooms.

Stackable Cars Solve Urban Traffic Problems

Ok, this must be from Japan. The City Car, a design from the MIT Media Lab, is a stackable, foldable car concept that hopes to alleviate the urban traffic jams we waste so much of our lives in. Let me explain this.

“These cars which are supposed to be rentable near major transportation hubs such as airports and train stations. It works just like a shopping cart in a grocery store. You deposit the money, you hopped into the car. Of course, you have to pick the one at the front, otherwise if you picked the middle car, how can you leave? Haha. Then the way ya go! Park your car into one of the dedicated parking spots when you’re done.”

The cars themselves are supposed to be incredibly agile, being able to turn on the spot and drive sideways to parallel park. Only time can tell whether this will be more or less successful than the Segway.
