According to CNN, Microsoft has been in talks with Yahoo! about potentially acquiring a major portion of the company. The rumor is $25 Billion for this deal. This is not the first instance that Microsoft have this buyout thought for Yahoo! Last year in May, there are news about Yahoo!’s acquisition by Microsoft for $50 Billion in pricetag. The chart above illustrates the Search Engine percentages held in August/September for USA. Let’s look at the Sept. column, Google has 57%, Yahoo! 23.7% and Microsoft 10.3% (including MSN.com and Live.com) If Microsoft bought Yahoo!, their total search engine percentage could reach to 34%!!!
It may provide a powerful challenger to Google’s web dominance. What do you think of this acquisition / how it affects you? Do you think Google will loss its 1st Search Engine spot in the future?
I’m looking forward to this new era of Search Engines Battle. Users like us should be benefited
