Google isn’t Perfect. Google holes Revealed

So far all the previous Google posts were positive such as the Gmail 6GB Storage and Google’s Android for mobile OS. However, this is negative! The two Google-related hacks which surfaced recently causes IT managers to look at employee Web surfing as a security hazard rather than a time waster.
Last month Google Toolbar’s security holes could let the hacker install malicious software on the system through the vulnerability of the “add new buttons” application embedded in the Google toolbar. Google later confirmed it was working to fix the problem.
Also last month, Google’s Orkut social networking service was hit by a worm. It added hundreds of thousands of users to an Orkut group, called “Infected by the Orkut virus.” Simply by viewing a malicious Orkut user’s profile! Luckily, the bug did not steal any personal information from the infected users.
My two cents:
Although I do not use Orkut service, I have seen the Google Toolbar’s bug when I was fixing one of the computers recently. In the cause of the Google Toolbar attack, a user would first have to be conned into clicking a pop up asking them if they want to install the custom button. The user would then have to click the button and agree to execute this program. Beware innocent readers! I’ve seen people install every single thing that they were asked for and those least web savvy users usually became the poor victims. I’m not going deep into this but email me if you want to know how to fix this bug.
