Stackable Cars Solve Urban Traffic Problems

Ok, this must be from Japan. The City Car, a design from the MIT Media Lab, is a stackable, foldable car concept that hopes to alleviate the urban traffic jams we waste so much of our lives in. Let me explain this.

“These cars which are supposed to be rentable near major transportation hubs such as airports and train stations. It works just like a shopping cart in a grocery store. You deposit the money, you hopped into the car. Of course, you have to pick the one at the front, otherwise if you picked the middle car, how can you leave? Haha. Then the way ya go! Park your car into one of the dedicated parking spots when you’re done.”

The cars themselves are supposed to be incredibly agile, being able to turn on the spot and drive sideways to parallel park. Only time can tell whether this will be more or less successful than the Segway.
